Scenic world première of Gurre-Lieder
Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam
[F]ascinating and emotionally charged musical theatre. (Jenny Camilleri, bachtrack; 03.09.2014)
[A] hauntingly honest portrait of an era on the brink of extinction, with the frangible beauty of a fairytale castle soon to be crushed forever. (Shirley Apthorp, The Financial Times; 03.09.2014)
The Dutch National Opera has opened its 2014-2015 season with an absolute first: the scenic world première of Arnold Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder. Marc Albrecht, chief conductor of the Dutch National Opera, and opera director Pierre Audi as stage director have combined their talents for the first time in this well received production.
Radio 4 | NTR Opera broadcasts the performance of Gurre-Lieder on 18 September at 20:00 live, listen online.
